Dr. Carolyn "Carol" W. Greider, Alumna College of Creative Studies (CCS) Biology '83, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, Daniel Nathans Professor, and Director of Molecular Biology & Genetics at Johns Hopkins University.
UC Santa Barbara alumna and Nobel Prize winner whose solution to a fundamental problem in biology has stimulated the development of new therapeutic strategies for cancer and age-related diseases. She attributes the CCS undergraduate experience, including her hands-on research in the lab, as key to her basis for her graduate studies at Berkeley where she earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 1987.

Jeff Henley, ’66 is vice chairman of Oracle Corporation. He served as Oracle’s chief financial officer and an executive vice president from 1991 to 2004, and has been a member of Oracle’s board of directors since 1995. Henley was chairman of Oracle from 2004 until 2014. He also serves on Oracle’s Executive Management Committee. Prior to joining Oracle in 1991, Henley served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Pacific Holding Company, a privately held company with diversified interests in manufacturing and real estate, and as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Saga Corporation, a multibillion-dollar food service company.
Henley is the Co-Chair of the Campaign for UC Santa Barbara and is Chair of the Director's Council and the Global Advisory Board for the Institute for Energy Efficiency. He also serves on the Dean’s Cabinet for the College of Engineering at UC Santa Barbara. Henley has a BA in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA in finance from UCLA. Jeff and his wife, Judy, have made numerous celebrated philanthropic commitments to UCSB including the Henley Gate, and a transformative leadership investment--the largest gift to the university at the time—toward building Henley Hall, what will be the new home for the Institute for Energy Efficiency and the West Coast hub of AIM Photonics.
Greg Fish, ’05 is the Chief Technology Officer at Aurrion. Dr. Fish is considered a leading expert in the field of photonic integration with over 15 years of experience in the field of InP based Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). He began his work in this area while obtaining a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1994 and later a MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the UC Santa Barbara in 1999. He is an author/coauthor on over 40 papers in the field and has 10 patents. Dr. Fish was a cofounder and key leader at Agility Communications from 1999-2005, which was formed to commercialize tunable lasers based on PICs for telecommunications applications using technology pioneered at UCSB. This business was acquired by JDSU in late 2005 where it has grown to nearly $100M in revenue per year.
Near Margalit, ’95 MS, ’98 PhD ,is the head of product development and CTO for Intel’s Silicon Photonics Solution Group. Previous to Intel he was the CEO of Source Photonics where he grew the business from $30M annual revenues to over $200M, developing key industry enabling technologies in optical components. He has 20 years’ experience in optical systems and components. He was the founder and CTO for Zaffire Inc., a Kleiner Perkins funded optical networking startup. He has a PhD. from UC Santa Barbara in Opto-electronics, and a BS in Applied Physics from Caltech.

Dr. Dennis Clegg, Wilcox Professor of BioMedicine, Co-Director, Center for Stem Cell Biology and Engineering, Department of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology
Dr. Dennis Clegg is currently researching if stem cells can be applied in novel therapies to treat diseases, especially Age-related Macular Degeneration. Dr. Denise Montell is the recipient of a 2014 Pioneer Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
